Mixing Fun With Learning

That’s how school should be! Children learn best when enjoyment is part of their daily learning routine. For most children, learning to read and write is a stressful activity, but here at Glendale School, we make sure that every lesson we deliver to our children is meaningful, relevant and of course, a fun journey to remember.

Delighted- they will be fast learners

Circle Time

To encourage early childhood learners to participate actively in class, ample time is alloted for play, exploration and imagination through various toys and educational tools provided for interaction in their classroom.

Integrated Project-Based Assessment

Tiny hands and small voices, can these hinder early childhood learners to produce worthwhile, creative and productive projects?

As young as they are, early childhood learners are trained to craft individual learning through various projects that can best assess their understanding in different subject areas. Through this, they don’t just learn the knowledge they acquire from their studies, they also learn to actively collaborate, respect differences, harmoniously share ideas and freely express their God-given talents and skills.

Motivated - they will bring out their best

E-Learning

Gearing up to the challenge of the new millennium, children experience blended learning through educational technology. Carefully guided by their teachers, they are able to comprehend their lessons with ease and fun while browsing and exploring the apps in the tabs.

These tabs are equipped with educational games and applications that are developmentally suitable for their age, actively engaging them with the lessons, aiding in improving their level of competence.

A Comparative Analysis On Gender Roles In The Modern And Traditional Filipino-Catholic Household

by

Delmo, Mendoza & Singson

Abstract

Since its emergence and up until the 21st century, Catholicism has played an important role in the ascription of human societal norms, beliefs and practices in accordance to sex and gender.  This study aims to identify the household specific gender roles that Catholicism has instigated, and further distinctly compare and analyze the differences of Catholic-inspired modern and traditional household gender roles. In light of this, the researchers aspire to determine the impact of modernization unto the Catholic influence of defining and shaping household behavioral norms within a Philippine context.  The Gender Schema Theory introduced by Sandra Bem (1981) and the Associative Theory prompted by David Hume (1748) and further refined and improved upon by various psychologists provide additional knowledge as the researchers explicate the gender role difference within a generation gap through a comparative case analysis.

Mga Anino ng Text Messaging sa Pang-Akademikong Sulatin

by

Cabreros, Destajo, Gallos at Villongco

by

Banzon, Buenaventura, at Catapang

On its 1st Theater Season, Sining Karilagan, Glendale School’s official theater organization, presented Elmer Gatchalian’s full-length play “Ang Tiririt ng Ibong Adarna”.

The play was directed by Mr. Mark Angelus Padon, with lights and set design by Loriz Lansang, a student from Grade 10- Electron. The play was a parody of the classic novel Ang Ibong Adarna. Colorful aesthetics, farcical movements and humorous lines made the play an interactive and fun production.

The play circled on the saying “Kaya Ko, Kaya Mo, Kaya Nating Lahat!” that suggests no one should limit his or her capability based on his or her gender identity or role. It breaks the patriarchal notion that men can do more or achieve more than women, as the central character, Prinsesa Mina solved the mystery that Kaharian ng Yodapapwa was beset to.

The long hours of rehearsals, time consuming memorization, and the dreadful making of props and costumes all paid-off as the audience welcomed the cast and staff with reverberating applause as the curtain called. Definitely, this production is one for the books.

Unfolding the Magic of Love with Sining Karilagan’s 2nd Theater Season Production

Following the success of Ang Tiririt ng Ibong Adarna production, Sining Karilagan mounted its 2nd Theater Season with an adaptation play by Rolando Tinio entitled Pangarap sa Isang Gabi ng Gitnang Tag-araw, William Shakespeare’s translated play A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

Pangarap sa Isang Gabi ng Gitnang Tag-araw, deals with the universal theme of love and its complications: disappointment, confusion, marriage. The plot focuses on three parallel stories: the trials and experiences of two sets of lovers camping in a magical forest, the world of the Fairy King and Queen and their elves, and a group of rough craftsmen attempting to stage a production of "Pyramus and Thisby" for the wedding of the Duke of Athens.

Hermia is in love with Lysander, but her father wants her to marry Demetrius. To escape the arranged marriage, she and Lysander elope into the woods. Demetrius follows them, and he is pursued by Helena, who nurses an unrequited passion for him. A love quadrangle develops among the young lovers when mischievous Puck plays Cupid. "The course of true love never did run smooth" says Lysander. Meanwhile, a group of amateur actors rehearses a badly-written play in the woods, and soon all find their lives changed by the doings of Oberon and Titania, the warring king and queen of the fairies. Magic, action, love and humor are the ingredients for this unforgettable spell.

The actors went on rigid workshop of dancing, mime, improvisation and characterization to bring out the beauty of the story. Set in the disco era of the 80’s the incorporation of music, dance steps and costume wrapped the production with a stellar performance. The audiences were put on a dreamland as they unfold the story behind the star-crossed lovers and able to learn the character of being obedient to parents.

ECO WEEK in GLENDALE!

"Children are born with a sense of wonder and an affinity for nature.  Properly cultivated, these values can mature into ecological literacy, and eventually into sustainable patterns of living." -Zenobia Barlow, "Confluence of Streams"

“ECO Film Showing Day”

(An Eco Week Celebration)

An environmentally-themed film showing event was held to promote awareness in the different factors that contribute to the destruction of Mother Earth as well as possible solutions to solve these issues. Our kids enjoyed movies that teach lasting principles and big concepts to little minds like Lorax as it tackles about a war between those who would exploit Mother Nature’s natural resources for their own profit, and the indigenous people and wildlife that call these areas home, who need those resources for their very survival; and Wall-E that teaches us to protect the environment before it’s too late.

Pagdiriwang ng Linggo ng Wika

Here are some of our students as they showcase their talents in singing and poem recital during our recently concluded “Linggo ng Wika Celebration” held last August in Glendale School Main Campus. Multiple Intelligence Awards 2017

According to Dr. Howard Gardner, IQ is not one-dimensional, and that it can’t be described by a single number. Each child is unique. Each child is special in their own ways. And because we believe that, the the yearly “Multiple Intelligence Awards” has been launched.

We recognize that there are many paths to understanding, and students learn best when they are able to engage in activities that focus on their strengths and interests. We know and understand that each child learn in different ways, and recognizing them of their great potentials has become a powerful motivating tool in empowering Glendaleans in taking responsibility for their own learning experience.
